Upcoming Joint Warwick Chess & Alumni Stream - Twitch

The next Alumni Online Stream over Twitch (https://twitch.tv/warwickchess) will be a joint one with the Society. It will be hosted by Society President Meghana Mohan, and Alumni Chair Taran Jina. It will feature guests, Andrew Gissop (Society Vice President), and Eva Pacararu (Society Div. 3 Captain).

The commentary will begin at 6pm BST, 11th September, 2022, and conclude at 8pm.

In the first hour, we will be covering the Alumni 2200+ (A) Team, who will be playing the XANDREZ ENTRE AMIGOS (Brazil), and the second hour, the OG Team, and Young Oldies will be up against CIESZYŃSKIE LEGENDY (Poland) and ABERDEEN UNIVERSITY (Scotland), respectively.

The Teams, as follows:

Alumni 2200+. Dimiter Daskalov, Sultan Otegenov, CM Peter Williams, Simeon Bott.

Alumni OG. Sam Hall, James Munns, Tom Richardson, Elliot Long.

Alumni Young Oldies. Daniel Koltai, Jonathan Fowler, Arjun Pyda, Deema Khunda, Vash Ravi.

Three Warwick Alumni Teams to enter the 2020 World League

The Alumni have enter field three teams, into the upcoming 2022-23 Season for the 2020 World Chess Championships. Special thanks to our Competitive Chess Captain, Jack Huffer for co-ordinating.

Our first team is aimed for players around and above 2200+, whilst we have two further regular teams, are based on the alumni cohorts.

Games are once a month, with a time control of a ten minute plus five second increment time.

London Chess Festival Summer 2022

Just one week after the Summer Reunion at Warwick, the Alumni were back out in force at the London Chess Festival. The group very impressively spammed ten generations of Warwick Chess, an all-time record. The day started at Jen's Cafe (Chinatown), with a couple hours at ChessFest (Traflagar Square), following by Happy Hour drinks at Simmons Bar (Leicester Square), with dinner at GFC (a Taanese Fried Chicken joint), ending up with drinks at Spoons.

Grad Celebration 2022

A very packed affair for this Summer Reunion & Grad Celebration 2022, with six generations of Warwick Chess returning to celebrate the graduating cohorts of 2022, 2021, and 2020 - including VIP Siti. Friday began with circling and Kasbah. Saturday started with welcome drinks at Varsity, then a buffer BBQ at Scarman Hotel (campus), ending with a 'closing' Cocktail reception at the new Faculty of Arts Building, this was followed in succession with a Leamington Bar Crawl, end at Kelseys, before everyone was ushered into Smack. The Sunday morning even started early with a Birthday Brunch at Benugo (Campus) for Jonathan. Special thanks to Tom Richardson, for getting the ball rolling with this event.

Shout out to our new-elected Bar Crawl Secretaries, Elliot Long, and James March, as well as Football Captain, Ben Lee.

Spring Reunion, AGM, and Skool Days 2022

A Spring Reunion with food at the Giggling Squid (Leamington), Cocktails at Turtle Bay, our first Annual General Meeting (also welcoming the new finalists), circling in the Engineering Common Room, peaking with Skool Days til the early hours, and as ever a filling brunch afterwards, at Bills (Leamington).

Alumni returns for the 4th Warwick Rapidplay 2022

An extended weekend featuring the Alumni, and the Society 2200+ Club having curry with Keith Arkell at King Baba's (Leamington), Karaoke with Keith to the early hours, and the 4th Warwick Rapidplay on the Saturday!

Christmas Meal and London Chess Boxing 2021

Our first Christmas Reunion - drinks at the Worlds' End, Christmas meal at the Earl of Camden, more drinks at the Camden Dingwalls, a night at the London Chessboxing (Tufnell Park), with the following morning featuring brunch at Mei Mei's at Borough Market, and shopping on Oxford Street.

Bristol Rapidplay & Hiking in Somerset 2021

This was a packed weekend going to the Bristol Rapidplay - with a stop at Wetherspoons, a small family pub, ending at Ben's home in Somerset, then a short hike in the morning, brunch at the White Harte, a few drinks at a Sports Bar, and further festivities.
